Dr. Culter has been an Adjunct Professor in the School of Packaging since 2006.  During that time, he has been a member of the School's Industry Advisory Committee, and has taught PKG 828 (Plastics Processing) online.  He was the recipient of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Honorary Alumnus Award in 2000.  This award is presented to a non-alumnus of MSU who has provided a distinctive contribution to MSU and the College
 
 
 
 
 
Rafael Gavara, Ph.D.

Dr. Gavara has been associated with the School of Packaging since 1991.  He was a post-doctoral fellow for several years and in 1998 helped organize the overseas study program, Packaging in Spain.  He has been a collaborator on that program since then.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Mats Johnsson, Ph.D.

Dr. Johnsson organized and has taught in our overseas study program in Sweden since 1987.  He has continually updated the program to reflect new trends.  He has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor since 2002.

Dr. Jonson has been an Adjunct Professor in the School of Packaging since 1986.  She has been involved in our study abroad program in Sweden, along with Dr. Mats Johnsson.
 
 
 
 
 
Luis Madi, Ph.D.

Dr. Madi works with the School of Packaging to develop programs of mutual interest and benefit.  Examples include promotion and delivery of training programs and sending employees to MSU to earn a Master of Science degree.  He was the recipient of the Joon S. Moon Distinguished International Alumni Award in 1997.  Dr. Madi has been an Adjunct Professor since 1990.
 
 
 
 
 
Amar Mohanty, Ph.D.

Dr. Mohanty was appointed as an Associate Professor in the School of Packaging in 2003, and as Adjunct Professor when he was named Research Chair in Biomaterials and Transportation at University of Guelph in 2008.
 
 
 
 
 
Paul Peoples
Haslett, Michigan
 
As an Adjunct Professor in the School of Packaging since 1992, Mr. Peoples has worked tirelessly for the School.  He serves on the Industry Advisory Committee, has been a guest lecturer in Packaging classes, works with student organizations to assist them with various projects, and has organized the School's exhibits at various trade shows.  He serves as an informal advisor to the School.  Paul and his wife Joanne (deceased) created the Paul and Joanne Peoples Scholarship fund which awards scholarships to undergraduates and returning veterans indicating an interest in packaging, with preference given to those reentering due to death of a spouse or divorce with special consideration to single parents.  Paul was awarded the MSU Alumni Association Service Award in 1999.  This award is presented to graduates who have demonstrated continually outstanding volunteer service to Michigan State University.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Claire Koelsch Sand, Ph.D.
Menomonie, Wisconsin
 
Dr. Sand is an entrepreneurial technical leader with over 20 years experience across the spectrum of the packaging industry including basic research, materials development, package and product development, market research, and marketing at the retail level.  Dr. Sand has taught an online course in Value Relationships for the School.  She was appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor in 2007.
