Auto ID Research Center


 

The MSU Auto-ID Research and Testing Center focuses on the evaluation and improvement of Auto-ID systems and component reliability in order to increase efficiency, lower costs and reduce product and packaging waste, resulting in a more environmentally conscious global marketplace.

The AIRTC encompasses all facets of Auto-ID and sensory network technologies to increase supply chain visibility, resulting in greater process control and opening new doors for process improvement.

ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES:
 
 
  • Performance testing of Auto-ID system components
    including readers, antennae, RFID tags,
    printed barcodes and optical scanners
  • Unbiased evaluation of innovative
    Auto-ID solutions and applications
  • RFID hotspot testing for optimization of
    tag placement on shipping cases and
    pallet loads
  • Current research in supply chain
    applications within the medical device
    and pharmaceutical industries, incorportaing 1-D and 2-D barcode systems, and near-field and far-fieldRFID systems

    scenarios including stretch wrapper, portal
    walk through (containers, truck, and dock
    door) and conveyors
