Dr. Narayan’s research encompasses design & engineering of sustainable, biobased products, biodegradable plastics and polymers, biofiber reinforced composites, reactive extrusion polymerization and processing, studies in plastic end-of-life options like biodegradation and composting. Dr. Narayan was named MSU University Distinguished Professor in 2007—the highest honor that can be bestowed on a faculty member by the university. He is a successful entrepreneur having been responsible for commercializing several technologies and serves as the Scientific Chair and board member of the Biodegradable Products Institute North America.
Dr. Narayan was appointed Adjunct Faculty Member in the School of Packaging in 2009.
