Paul Schmidt, PAA's newest Packaging Hall of Fame Member
During a reception held at the School of Packaging on February 19, the Packaging Alumni Association inducted it's newest member - Paul Schmidt.  Paul retired after a successful 40 year career in packaging, most recently with Kimberly Clark.  He is actively involved with the School of Packaging often teaching PKG 101, the packaging introductory course. He is also a Senior Associate with PTIS and is currently living in Portage, MI.

In his personal statement of application Paul writes, in part:
"I have contributed to the improvement of corporate “top and bottom line” growth of five Fortune 100 consumer products companies for 40 years. The knowledge and experience I have gained with these companies have included the innovation, development, implementation, and management of packaging systems. My package engineering and management roles have involved a wide spectrum of materials, equipment, supply chain, and customer merchandising systems. These roles have been significant factors in strengthening my knowledge and skills in many areas of packaging....

I have maintained my membership in MSU Packaging Alumni Association and the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP). My wife and I enjoy the time traveling to visit our children and grandchildren in Texas, Washington and Florida. I am also a member of the Masonic fraternity and  active in the Scottish Rite and Shrine organizations. I enjoy bicycling the trails of Portage, Michigan, Wisconsin or wherever our “ rv’ing” takes us across America.

Packaging has been more than a vocation. I feel I have lived my life according to Albert Schweitzer’s philosophy that “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful”.
